On August 12, 2023, WANA Beverage Company Limited, in collaboration with Gaia Nature Conservation Center, embarked on a meaningful journey by planting 450 native trees in the Dong Nai Cultural and Natural Conservation. The dedicated team at Wana actively participated in greening 1.5 hectares of impoverished forest, contributing to climate change adaptation, biodiversity protection, and the restoration of the watershed ecosystem for the Southeast region of Vietnam.
Amid the forest planting endeavor, the WANA Beverage team had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the beauty of Dong Nai’s nature, exploring its lush landscapes and historical sites of national significance in the Southern region.
With remarkable success in the realm of beverage production, WANA not only invests in product research and business development but also passionately engages in community-driven initiatives and environmental preservation. Aligned with Gaia’s mission and recognizing the urgency of climate change, Wana joined forces to plant 450 trees, covering 1.5 hectares with lush greenery. Rooted in a commitment to community service, the Wana team exuded energy and enthusiasm while actively participating in the tree-planting effort. Even the youngest members, alongside their parents, eagerly contributed by collecting biodegradable plastic shells for use in the reforestation area, ensuring its eco-friendliness.
Striving to enrich the forest ecosystem while preserving its unique genetic traits, WANA planted a diverse array of native trees, including Bằng Lăng, Gõ Mật, Huỷnh, Dâu Da, Trắc Đen, Lim Xẹt, and Trâm. This selection encompasses both large timber trees and those bearing fruits, serving as a food source for wildlife. Gaia will actively care for and monitor the forest for the next four years, aiming to achieve a survival rate of 70-85%. Each year, Gaia will provide Wana with data and images showcasing the forest’s growth and development.
Mike Nguyen, our CEO, shared, “Through this initiative, WANA aims to inspire all members of the WANA family to embody the spirit of community service and environmental responsibility, towards a greener and more sustainable future. Additionally, WANA seeks to contribute to mitigating global warming, addressing climate change, and directly protecting Vietnam’s lush green lungs.”
Ms. Đỗ Thị Thanh Huyền, Founder and Director of Gaia Nature Conservation Center, remarked, “Forest planting, though seemingly straightforward, is an effective solution to climate change. Notably, forests play a crucial role in mitigating natural disasters such as storms and landslides. Gaia is honored to join forces with the Wana team on this meaningful journey of restoring the Dong Nai watershed. The 450 trees planted today will continue to be nurtured and monitored by Gaia’s team and the Conservation Area staff to ensure that the forest generates positive and sustainable values for nature and the community.”
In the afternoon, our team explored the tropical dry forest and visited significant historical sites of central importance. The journey left a profound impact as the team marveled at the colossal Ko Nia tree, passed through towering trees felled by heavy rains, learned about medicinal and valuable timber species, and soaked in the cool, refreshing air of the forest. The experience revitalized the participants after a morning of enthusiastic tree planting.
WANA believes that this meaningful action will continue to expand and develop further. We will continue to plant more green trees in the upcoming years!
